Hello, and welcome to all my new readers who journeyed into the world of Ahra through the Festive Fates Anthology! Though the anthology may only be here for a limited time, my story Seshka’s Gift is just the beginning of a new young adult magic academy series set in the world of Ahra. Seshka’s story didn’t start in Seshka’s Gift, though…in fact, her tale goes all the way back to the Ahran Archives.
We first meet Seshka in the epilogue of Sixes and Sevens, book two of the Archives and our first foray into the Dominion. Poised in the frozen northeast of Ahra, divided from its neighbors by craggy mountains and treacherous passes, The Dominion is a stark contrast to the relative gentleness of Tanahr, where the Ahran Archives begin. Seshka is in a place of despair no young person should be but the light of hope shines, and her path takes a miraculous and unexpected turn. In Aether and Honor, book three of the Ahran Archives, Seshka plays an important role in a dangerous and ultimately liberating quest, bringing us to the events of Seshka’s Gift only weeks later.
The Ahran Archives is a series full of adventure, hope in the face of adversity, and ultimately celebrations of romance, friendship, and found family. The Mageguild Academy series starts with Seshka’s Gift, and book two, as well as an expanded edition of the first story, will launch in late winter/early spring. All of my fantasy work is PG to PG-13 at most (PG-13 more for a few intense battle scenes, depending on the reader), and I’ve had young adult readers as well as us young at heart folks say they enjoyed their journeys in Ahra! The same will be true for the Mageguild Academy series. Though it focuses on school-age children and young adults, I’ve had many grownup readers love Seshka’s Gift, so expect more of this exciting journey in the coming weeks!
